The people of Goffs Oak Village has made a recognised mark and has been nominated for a CPRE Rural Award. A CPRE judge popped over to Goffs Oak earlier this week and despite our Village Centre being a bit of a demolition site (Whiskers site), the judge seemed to be impressed. She had a good tour of our Village Centre and the playing fields. She particularly liked the attractive well designed raised garden and was very familiar with the different types of flora. She was also well impressed to hear it is the locals to keep the flower beds watered (We did ask the local fireman who quite rightly, refused to do it).
The judge was most impressed with our community volunteers commitment to the wellbeing of Goffs Oak and how you are keeping a watchful eye on matters affecting the area and of course the litter-picking – be it on a daily basis or on an organised weekend day.
We may not win the top award, it is always good to have good work recognised and such a commitment to maiking a difference.
