Update: the three applications were approved by Broxbourne Council on May 22. More to follow
The Planning and Regulatory Committee meeting is going to convene on May 22, 2018 at 7pm to – among other agenda items – discuss three applications for the development of 877 dwellings on our Green Belt.
What’s happening?
“Three separate planning applications (see below for details) that could mean up to 800 homes are built on greenbelt land in Goffs Oak have been recommended for approval.
The developments have been described as ‘potentially the most significant urban expansion within this borough for well over a decade’ and could dramatically increase the size of Goffs Oak.
However, Broxbourne Borough Council has recommended it for approval, despite it being located on greenbelt land, because it would help meet its housing targets.
The plans have been met with strong objection from the Goffs Oak Community Association (GOCA).
In a letter to the council, the group states: “The application site is unspoilt grazing land in the greenbelt and there are no exceptional circumstances giving rise to its removal.” (Hertfordshire Mercury, May 16).
Not the right way forward? Yes, we think so too.
Join us at the Planning and Regulatory Committee meeting on May 22.
