The Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) asks you to tell the government to put the countryside first.

What’s going on?

CPRE: The Government is reviewing an important piece of policy that could change the shape of the English countryside forever. It is rewriting the National Planning Policy Framework – the rules that determine what kind of houses are built, where they go, and whether it is communities or developers who are at the heart of those decisions.

The outcome will have a huge impact on issues such as safeguarding protected landscapes, the provision of rural affordable housing and guaranteeing that local communities’ voices are heard on developments in their area.

What can I do?

Write a letter or email your MP. The link takes you to the CPRE website through which you can contact your MP or send an email to charles.walker.mp@parliament.uk.

If you’d prefer to send a letter instead, you can send a note to

Charles Walker OBE MP, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA
